We are an intelligent species, which means knowledge is central to our very existence. Every human has both a sense for learning and a capacity to strengthen & engage this innate curiosity in ways that foster human flourishing within our being and within our world.

In this respect, knowledge is OF our humanity, BY our humanity,

and FOR our humanity. If we apply this narrative to our approach to learning, school becomes a setting of empowerment in our own story. Education builds us up when it teaches us to build our lives & world.

as regards the subject-matter.... clearly illustrate the importance of mankind of command over specific agencies and methods of thought and action in realizing its highest aims.... bring the child to recognize the necessity of a similar development within himself— the need of securing for himself practical and intellectual control of such methods of work and inquiry as will enable him to realize results for himself.
